HYDERABAD:

Son of Praja Rajyam president K. Chiranjeevi, Ram Charan Teja, who made his tinseltown entry with ‘Chirutha’ has lent his voice for a music album that is being launched for the party’s election campaign.

10 songs

With Mr. Chiranjeevi’s brothers, Yuva Rajyam president Pawan Kalyan and K. Nagendra Babu, fully utilising their ‘filmi’ glamour for the party, it is now the turn of the ‘Chirutha’ (panther) to help in the poll campaign by singing one party number in a 10-song album.

Lyricist Ananth Sriram, who is making waves in tinseltown and also wrote for Praja Rajyam’s first campaign album, has written all the 10 songs, with Mani Sarma scoring the music.

Mr. Ram Charan Teja, on Saturday, recorded the four-minute song that goes ‘Praja Rajyam Idi Prajalandaridi….’ (Praja Rajyam is for all the people) and the album is slated to be released on February 10.

Congress warns Praja Rajyam of ‘direct action’

HYDERABAD:

Miffed by the repeated outbursts against the ruling party by Praja Rajyam (PR) leaders, the Congress party has warned that its cadres would resort to direct action if the ‘smear campaign’ did not stop immediately.

Taking exception to the remarks made by PR chief Chiranjeevi and Yuva Rajyam president Pawan Kalyan during their tours of the districts, senior Congress leader Paladugu Venkata Rao and APCC spokesperson N. Tulasi Reddy said the ruling party would not tolerate further mudslinging by the political novices.

Mr. Venkata Rao was irked by Pawan Kalyan’s broadside against Congress leaders during his tour of Karimnagar referring to the alleged corruption and sufferings of the people.

“Without getting his facts right, Mr. Pawan Kalyan is hitting out at the State leaders,” he remarked.

The senior Congress leader said that the PR leaders had brought disrepute to politics by making wild gestures and daring the rival party leaders.

He also inquired with the local leaders about the historical importance of the dargah in the town. Earlier, he held a meeting with party leaders and thanked the district leaders for ensuring the success of his four-day yatra. He also discussed strategies for strengthening of the party from the grassroots’ level and involvement of more youth in the organizational structure. Chiranjeevi lashes out at YSR, Naidu

TIRUPATI:

On the penultimate day of his four-day extensive road show in Chittoor district, Praja Rajyam president K. Chiranjeevi, on Saturday, lashed out at Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy and TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu.

Apparently stung by his two major rivals repeatedly dubbing him a political novice and a non-entity, he took pot-shots at them amid loud cheers from the crowd which milled around his vehicle.

In an oblique reference to the ‘faction culture’ of the Congress bigwigs from the Rayalaseema region, Mr. Chiranjeevi agreed that he was a novice as far as the faction culture was concerned as he depended only on hard work, honesty, sincerity and courage of conviction.

He then went on to recall how thousands got hacked to death in the unending faction feuds in the region leaving young women languish as widows for life even as their children turned orphans. .

He also did not agree that the sops and schemes he announced during the course of his campaign are ‘populist’ and insisted they were ‘social imperatives’ necessary to address the problems of the poor.

Turning his ire at Mr. Naidu, the PR leader said it was an irony that Mr. Naidu, who had undermined late N.T. Rama Rao’s most cherished policies such as the Rs. 2-a-kg rice scheme and total prohibition for his own narrow political gains, should now eulogise NTR’s noble qualities and vision.

Three constituencies

Mr. Chiranjeevi was on a whistle-stop campaign in the district covering three constituencies Punganur, Piler and Puthalpet.

Palle Yatra by Mahila Rajyam leaders

VIJAYAWADA:

Activists of Mahila Rajyam, the women’s wing of Praja Rajyam, will undertake a “Palle Yatra” (campaign in villages) to get support of the people for the party and its chief Chiranjeevi.

PRP district committee member Tummala Padma and scores of others will lead this campaign in villages with the sole purpose of organising and bringing together sympathisers and neutral supporters of Chiranjeevi. In the process, these women leaders will involve actively PRP supporters to campaign for the party among women extensively.

Addressing a press meet on Saturday, Ms. Padma said they would continue these yatras in villages till the PRP came to power in the State and Chiranjeevi became the Chief Minister. She asserted that the programme would give them a chance to mingle with village people and know their problems first-hand.
