‘My stand on Telangana clear’

HYDERABAD:

Praja Rajyam president Chiranjeevi has appealed to people to give him the required strength to mount pressure on the Centre to concede the demand for separate Telangana.

Reacting to claims by other Opposition parties that he lacked clarity on separate Telangana, Chiranjeevi told a press conference on Sunday that he made his stand on the issue amply clear during his tour of Karimnagar, Warangal and Khammam. The PRP was not opposed to the demand and would welcome a resolution on the issue. The question, however, was how to give enough push to the demand at the Centre which should ultimately take a decision. Asked about the threat of TRS President K. Chandrasekhar Rao that he would not be allowed to visit Telangana again in the absence of clarity on the demand, Chiranjeevi said it may be Mr. Rao’s personal opinion. Refering to hurling of eggs on him in Warangal, Chiranjeevi said he had asked the district leadership to withdraw cases against the culprits since they were students and their career would be marred.
